Attitude

I want to use this opportunity to CONGRATULATE  Comrade Oshomhole the outgoing governor of my state  Edo State for his doggedness to achieving all he was able to achieve within this 8 years. He has done well. He came, saw and to add, he conquered. May he continue to achieve more as he will run and not faint.

However, I want to quickly say that dispite  all his achievements as a Labour man and as a governor, he but lacks one thing and that is ATTITUDE. He should very assiduously work on his character for him to be able to work with people. Attitude builds a man but ineptitude distroys him. If Oshomhole would do well outside governance, he should work on his attitude to bring about good results and make him a good person in the public world. My sincere observation, please. Wishing the Comrade a peaceful retirement. God bless Edo State. God bless Nigeria.

THE SECURITY AGENTS’FAILURE TO PERFORM THEIR DUTY POTENDS A BAD SIGNAL.

What would have informed the thought of the security agents to have wanted the Edo State election be postponed? They have to wait until 3 days to the election to announced to the world that there is a threat of terrorists to cause havoc in the state. And this is after announcing that about 25,000 Police personnels and other security agents would be deployed to the state for the security of lives and property during the election, and all of a sudden, they announced a security threat? Isn’t this funny? Or could  we say a weakness in the part of the security men? Or is it that some water have passed through the bridge?

But why are we like this? Imagine this variables, people have travelled from afar taken risks on our roads, air and seas to exercise their franchise and also the aspirants who have spent money and time, taken known and unknown risks, having sleepless nights looking forward to  the day, only to be told that the election is postponed 2 days to the time, haba! What would you call that? Smartness or intelligence?

What would have informed the security agents to come out with this security gimmick? Or is it that some strong political bigwigs are trying to buy time so as to kill the interest of the electorates like what happened during the last Presidential and House of Assembly’s elections in the state? The scenerio was that the PDP won the Presidential election but a week that follows after the announcement of president Buhari as the overall winner of the election, a lot of electorates gave up as if what is the need to go ahead and vote. Most of the voters didn’t vote when that of the State House of Assembly came, and the ruling party had a free day and they came out victorious at the end of the day. It is a good strategy, but sometimes such don’t work as the people may be desirous for a change.

However, the situation on ground as it were calls for concern  and apprehension concerning the capability of our security agents to protect the citizens. The failure no doubt has rubbish their ability to make their words their bound. This is an election that the date has been fixed long ago and yet the Police and the DSS decided to wait until 3 days to the election before coming out to announce that there is a threat,  therefore the election should be postponed. An election that over 25,000 Policemen were ready to be deployed. With this circumstance on ground, it has shown to us that our Policemen are weak and lilylivered. If not, we could believe that there is a compromised.

This situation reminded me of one time President of France, Charles De Gaulle who was advised by his security men not to appear in a particular function because it was too dangerous that he could be killed. After listening to all their submissions, he said to them ” I am the president of France and I want to perform my duty, and you as the security men your duty is to protect me, therefore go and perform your duty”. If everyone and every agent can perform  their duties, there would be no lapses. Our security men by this singular act has disappointed Edolites in particular and Nigerians in general. I dare say that they are chicken-hearted, therefore not fit to protect us. This is just an election for a state, yet they have developed a cold feet, what if it were the whole nation going to the polls? This is laughable to say the least, that 25,000 policemen can not protect the citizen of a state during an election. Oma se o! Owa kaka bo damwen!

COUNTDOWN TO EDO GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION 2016.

albigray67

It’s nine days to the Edo State Gubernatorial Election. And like I have expressed in my previous write-ups, the tension is high and its still very high. Accusations and counter accusations at every rally and campaign podium. Arrest of some political apologists and political holigans . The desperation to cling the governor’s seat come 10th of September is in the mind of every aspirant, what happens thereafter is nobody’s business at least not for now.

For the election to be credible in the eyes of men and God, even if we knew that they do not bother about this, is for all the aspirants to play by the rules. No inducement of the electorates to vote in a particular way  against their will and belief or coerce them to favour a particular aspirant.

COUNTDOWN TO EDO GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION 2016.

A small amount of electoral fraud may be enough to change the result and make the process lost credibility. Even if the outcome is not affected, revelation of fraud can have a damaging effect as it can reduce voters confidence in the system. Electoral fraud can occur in advance of voting if the composition of the electorate is altered. The legality of the type of manipulation varies across jurisdictions, as the manipulation of election outcomes is widely considered a violation of the principal of democracy.

Moreover, the electorates should be free to vote their candidate without fear or favour. The candidates should  avoid vote buying by giving money or other rewards to the electorates for  them to vote in a particular  way to favour a particular candidate like what we saw  in the 2015 Presidential Election where voters  were been given money before/after voting for a particular candidate. That was the height of electoral deception I have ever seen.

Concluding therefore, for this election to be credible and not to be desesteemed, is to avoid violence and vote buying. This election must not be marked or marred with violence nor holiganism nor killings or distruction of property nor declared INCONCLUSIVE. It is in our hands. Long live Edo State.

Nigerians are hardworking!

Who says Nigerians are not hard working? Or that they are lazy? The person may have been coming from the space or perhaps has been in Nigeria  but passive. Passivity, as you may know is the senior  cousin to docility as both have the same surname which is IDLENESS.

Coming back to what I set out to write, Nigerians – boys, girls, men and women  are very strong and hardworking. Any Nigerian  born of a Nigerian mother and father almost always succeed outside their shores, acedamically and otherwise they come tops. And in all spectrum of life they keep their heads high above their shoulders. Do your findings, and it will amaze you what you will find.

What then is the problem  at home, that it seems that  our vibrant youths are lazy and low-spirited? I think the answer to this question should be seached in the  midst of our political confusion. The political  bigwigs out of their magnanimosity of the fears of the unknown, would not  want the younger generation to pick up their pieces and redefined their tomorrow. They would  always  want this people around them to carry out their nefarious activities. And if they dare to empower them, the acolytes praises of “up chair”, “it is a chair”, “my chair”, “my leader”, will cease. And because they have so impoverished this people in wellbeing and intellects, they still find them around by the dangling of some naira notes on their faces. Oh what a contextual higgledy-piggledy!

Like they would always say, “keep hope alive”. I urge the very patriotic Nigerians men and women to remain focus, strong, hardworking and keep hope alive. We will get there  someday. It might not be soon, but we will get there. Always let your head be on your shoulders, then no man will be able to rubbish you. Just some words of encouragement in the face of the excruciating circumstantial situational situation. Have a good day,
